FAQ

Ordering & Subscription Basics 📦

Where can I buy Roots Products?

The Roots' products are available in the frozen aisle of grocery stores across the USA and through Instacart, plus you can also buy directly from us through this web site.

What's up with the Subscription for Fries?

Funny right, "fries by mail by month".  If you have a kid or two, the "CPK" (aka "consumption per kid") is about 2 bags per week across the eight Roots products, so by popular demand we created the subscription option to make it easy for you stay stocked up with organic, allergen-free, seed oil free, easy to serve snacks.  And easy it is... no contract, cancel anytime, text and email contact before each shipment, 100% frozen guarantee and comes in a cool box made with biodegradable packaging.

How much are the Root's products per bag in the Grocery Stores versus Online?

It varies by grocery store, but typically $11.99-$14.99 per bag and with an online subscription you get 6 bags delivered for $83.94, which is basically $13.99 per bag.  Very similar pricing, but lands on your doorstep in a very cool box that's recyclable with biodegradable/recyclable insulation.

How can I Modify my Next Subscription Shipment?

You will receive a text and email 3 days prior to any shipment so you can easily modify your order prior to shipment. You can also click HERE to login to your account and modify your order at any time.

How do I Track my Order or Change my Subscription Settings?

You'll receive an email and sms text prior to each delivery with the upcoming shipping date.  After the order ships, you'll receive an email and sms text with tracking information, including a notification when it has been delivered to your door.  You will also be able to easily modify your subscription via sms text and through the Roots web site, which you can access by clicking HERE to login.

How much does it cost to ship Frozen Fries Direct?

We cover the shipping, so for you... free shipping.

What are the direct shipping and delivery times?

We ship on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for arrival to you by Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday.  Delivery takes 2 days from the date your box ships.

I can't fit 6 bags in my freezer, what do I do about that?

Oddly, six bags of the fries don't take up a lot of room in your freezer.  The smallest compact freezer is about 3 cubic feet and your six bags of Organic Seed Oil Free Fries will take up about .15 cubic feet.  You can store them flat, upright or in the door making for a very versatile bag to get nestled into your freezer.  Way different than an ice tray or pizza box!  Fits nice.

How do I know my Roots shipment will be Frozen?

We guarantee it'll be frozen or we reship on our dime.  It's a great question though and we have invested lot's of time and money into making sure the boxes, insulation and shipping processes were the most effective, sustainable and frozen, just to make sure we could make that guarantee.

What should I do if I have issues with my order (e.g. damaged, missing items, not frozen)?

We have email, text and chat available to communicate on any product issue, please check out the contact section of the website and reach out.

What are your return and refund policies?

You can send us an email at hello@rootsfarmfresh.com or send us a text to 917-522-4985.  Please include your order number, a brief description and any photos of damages, if any.  We'd like you to let us know within 7 days of your delivery if have any issues, just to keep it current.  We'll replace any damaged products at no cost to you.

Product Information & Dietary Assurance 🌱

Are the Roots' Products Seed Oil Free?

Yes, all of the Roots' products on this site are Free From Seed Oil and in the grocery stores, all of the Roots products in 15oz bags are Free From Seed Oil.

What's the Difference between Seed Oil Free and Organic Seed Oil Free?

Basically, the amount of pesticides and glyphosate you're willing to eat.  If your oil isn’t organic, it could still contain residues from glyphosate, synthetic pesticides, or petroleum-based fertilizers—no matter what kind of oil it is.  So “seed oil free” alone doesn’t mean clean.  We use organic avocado oil—grown without harmful chemicals and 100% free of seed oils.  Because if you're still eating pesticides, skipping seed oils doesn't fix the problem.  Eat Organic Seed Oil Free and Eat Clean!

Are the Roots' Products Allergen-Free?

Yes, all of Roots' products are certified Allergen-Free and Gluten-Free.  The production facility is 100% Allergen-Free and Gluten-Free, 100% of the time, so no allergens or gluten anywhere near the Roots' products.

Are all of your products suitable for individuals with food allergies?

Yes, all of our fries are certified allergen-free and gluten-free, making them suitable for individuals with common food allergies.

Are the Roots' Products 3rd Party Certified?

Roots' is fanatical about third party certifications, so we may have more than we need, but here's a basic list.  Our products are third party certified as Organic, Allergen-Free (Big 9), Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, Halal, Kosher and Upcycled.  Additionally, our farms are all certified GlobalGAP and our production facilities are BRC AA+ certified, which is the highest score possible for a GFSI certification.  Best of the best.

How many ingredients do you have in each product?

We have the smallest number of ingredients known in the World of Fries.  Our White Potato Fries have two ingredients (Organic Potato, Organic Avocado Oil) and our Sweet Potatoes have seven ingredients (Organic Sweet Potatoes, Organic Avocado Oil plus a small % (4%) of Organic Batter which is primarily made up of Organic Potato Starch and Organic Corn Starch.

How is it possible to have a Vegan Fry made without Seed Oil?

We use organic avocado oil which is both Vegetarian and Vegan, so you can now serve a fully certified clean organic, seed oil free, vegan, vegetarian fry to your family and friends.

Wait, Avocados have a Seed, why aren't they a "Seed Oil"?

Even though avocados do have a big 'ol seed, avocado oil comes from the green fruit part of the avocado—not the seed. Seed oils (like soybean or canola) are made from actual seeds and usually need heat and chemicals to extract. The organic avocado oil  we use is cold-pressed straight from the fruit.  Cleaner, greener, and way better for you.

Where can I find nutritional information for your fries?

On this web site, you can click on any product photo and you can locate the nutritional information.  Additionally, each bag has the nutritional information on the back.

How should I prepare or consume the Roots products?

Each Roots' bag has cooking instructions and we have a never ending stream of recipe videos on this web site and on the @rootsfarmfresh Instagram.

Mission, Sustainability & Impact ♻️

What do you really mean when you say you "sustainably produce" the Roots' Products?

We utilize "upcycled" fresh potatoes to make the Roots' products which lowers the carbon foot print by 40% of every harvest and provides the local farmers a way to make some money on potatoes that would have otherwise been discarded (grocery stores won't accept too big, too little or blemished potatoes).

We use 100% steam instead of boiling water to process our fries, which helps make the product integrity stay nutritious without adding sugar and also helps us reduce the amount of water we use to make a fry by about 80% versus a normal industrially produced fry.

We do not discharge any water to the local rivers or lakes, we recycle 100% and reuse it in other parts of our plant, so we have zero water waste.

What does Pound Purchased = Pound Donated mean?

We are committed to helping put a dent in food insecurity in the USA and to that end, we started donating a pound of fresh sweet potatoes for every pound of organic potato products that you purchase.  We've been doing this for about two years and have a goal of getting to 100,000,000 pounds of donated fresh potatoes.
